Survival Starts at Home: Fire, well, well, well, fire is a touchy subject as I sit here writing this and California has some major wildfires going on. So, first off, its summer here its hot you probably don’t need a campfire, you might want one, but you probably don’t need one, it’s like me and my relationship with snickers bars.

Coming back from 4XFAR (read about that here) we were driving through Anza Borrego Desert State Park (California’s larges state park) and figure instead of wasting the gas and a two-hour trip we would break it up and get a camp in.

But what I think is even cooler bang for your buck wise is the Esbit Pocket Stove. They are around twelve dollars come with six solid fuel tabs.

How I ended up with the Solo Stove Lite is kind of a backwards trip than how I usually buy gear. When getting new stuff, I tend to start small and build up, but I was so impressed by their larger fire pit which I have blogged about already I really wanted to play around with more of the brand. I figured since I already went big might as well go small and see how the Solo Stove Lite worked out.

There are a ton of different options when talking about starting a fire, even when you try to whittle it down to something as simple as a lighter it can get interesting quickly...

We just got back from some winter camping over our holiday break and boy was it cold, luckily for us we brought along our Solo Stove Bonfire.
