Casa Del Zorro

We love Anza Borrego State Park, and you will find us adventuring there a lot, if you have been there before you might know that the park headquarters is in Borrego Springs which is an awesome little desert town. Most of our trips have us in the back country sleeping on the ground but this week I got treated to a special trip, thanks to Stephanie. There are some pretty neat resorts there and we have rolled through town but never stayed.

Road Trip to Eager Arizona

Last week as a great little adventure to Eager Arizona to visit with some friends and get up to the snow for some winter trails on new gear. It was quite the driving adventure and a new part of Arizona I had never been to, so I was excited to get on the road for an almost nine our drive across the state.

The Road Less Traveled, Las Vegas

Leaving from Kit Fox Outfitters in Ramona CA I headed northeast past Ranchita and into Borrego Springs and Anza Borrego State Park, California’s largest state park. I always enjoy this drive through Warner Springs, and it has some great views as you drop down the grade and into the desert. Plus, a nice drive through Anza Borrego and down some pretty worn desert roads.

Independence Day in Independence CA

This last weekend was an amazing trip and my first non-local escape ion a little while, we headed up to the Alabama Hills Just outside of Lone Pine Ca and positioned at the foot of the eastern sierras and Mt Whitney.

Mt Laguna Snow Days

Winter is a wonderful time of year in San Diego where you can jump in the ocean in the morning and be hiking in the snow in the afternoon, but that also presents some unique issues as well.

Anza Borrego Winter Camping

Coming back from 4XFAR (read about that here) we were driving through Anza Borrego Desert State Park (California’s larges state park) and figure instead of wasting the gas and a two-hour trip we would break it up and get a camp in.

After wrapping up our adventures in auto repair (you really need to read the Rubicon story if you have not) we headed south down the mighty highway 99. It was interesting to be back on the highway crusing down central California to our next stop. Today’s portion of the trip had us going to Shaver Lake a popular spot with my friends where the vacation often.

Rubicon Trail Pt 2

The upside of turning around was that Bob’s Jeep was still drivable and we could manage an egress the way we came. The weather really changed on a dime and we went from cloudy to rainy to probably a half inch of snow and going in about two hours.
