November 15th through 17th had us set up at Julian Farm and Orchard for the annual Modern Mountain Man Rendezvous an event held to support Triple B Adventures a veteran nonprofit that gets veterans outside hiking hunting fishing and camping. This event is one of the highlights of our mobile store year and one of the events we first started doing years ago. Since we have grown and so has this event!
What’s so cool about this event other than the comradery and supporting a good cause but the amount of outdoor instruction from a diverse and experienced cadre of instructors. Over the weekend there is fixed locations like the tomahawk range and archery and others. Additionally, through pout the day there are a ton of scheduled classes. Some of the highlights are our buddy Todd a survival instructor and all-around cool dude who does the wild edibles and small game harvesting classes that are always favorites.
This was the first year it was held at the Julian Farm and Orchard and wow what a neat place they have. There was tons of space and parking (always a plus). They are also easily accessible off of the 79 in Wynola on your way to Julian. Wynola is a cool spot in itself with dining options and a small hotel so even if you don’t camp you have a comfortable place to stay.
Speaking of camping one of the unique things about this event is that you can camp at it and many people do. This location and the crisp fall weather was perfect for sitting around the campfire and hanging out with new and old friends. One of the really cool things was Comfy Camps donated a full camp set up that means they set a up a whole “Glamp” experience so even if you are not a camping expert, they got your back.
One of the nice things was you didn’t have to leave the farm either, while there was local placed to eat Smokin Aces and local Veteran owned caterer set up on premise with a bunch of great food options for you. Unfortunately, there were not that many vendors this year just us but it was still nice to set up and say high to everyone. We did have a choice spot on the lawn and are looking forward tot seeing this location grow and the potential it has for being such. Great event at an awesome location.
All and all another great rendezvous and a good time with old and new friends with some great camping too. I will definitely suggest following Triple B Adventures to find out when the next one is coming up because I her rumors of a spring event.
