Yosemite National Park is in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. It’s famed for its giant, ancient sequoia trees, and for Tunnel View, the iconic vista of towering Bridal veil Fall and the granite cliffs of El Capitan and Half Dome. In Yosemite Village are shops, restaurants, lodging, the Yosemite Museum and the Ansel Adams Gallery, with prints of the photographer’s renowned black-and-white landscapes of the area, but there is much more such as Yosemite High Country.

Yosemite High Country area is around 11,000 feet above sea level and offers some great moderate climbing. Cathedral Peaks is one of the tallest peaks in Yosemite’s high country and easily accessed by vehicle. The Cathedral Peaks gets its name from its resemblance to a cathedral’s spires and turrets. The hike to Cathedral Lakes is one of the most loved in the Yosemite high country, there is a 7 miles (11.2 km) round trip to Upper or Lower Cathedral Lakes and 8 miles (12.8 km) round trip to see both. It provides alpine beauty with a pristine meadow, small lake, and Cathedral Peak towering overhead.
