The Angeles National Forest (ANF) is located in the San Gabriel and Sierra Pelona Mountains in Southern California, primarily within Los Angeles County. It is a backyard playground to over 20 million people in the Los Angeles and Southern California area. This 700,000-acre Forest is home to the San Gabriel National Monument which was designated on October 12, 2014 to over half of the Angeles National Forest. The Monument designation reflects the importance and uniqueness of a National Forest that is an "island of green" surround by over 15 million people.
