COURSE DESCRIPTION
The 16-hour Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course is designed for individuals of all backgrounds and experience levels who work, recreate, or travel in outdoor and remote environments.
This course teaches students how to assess, manage, and stabilize injuries and illnesses when professional medical care may be delayed. Instruction emphasizes hands-on skills practice and realistic scenarios to build confidence and real-world decision-making.

COURSE FORMAT & LOCATION
Schedule:
Class runs from 9:00 AM – approximately 5:00 PM each day. End times may vary based on class size, questions, and breaks.
Location:
Mesa Rim Mission Valley: 405 Camino del Rio S. San Diego, CA 92108
(Event room, mezzanine, and parking lot)
Format:
- Classroom instruction
- Hands-on skills practice
- Realistic outdoor scenarios
Participants should wear comfortable clothing that may get dirty or damaged. We recommend bringing a junk T-shirt for moulage (fake blood) and improvised splint practice.
Attendance is required for the full course to receive certifications.

- Sunscreen for the outdoor scenarios

This course follows the Wilderness Medicine Education Collaborative (WMEC) Standards of Practice and incorporates evidence-based medical guidelines.

- If class is cancelled by Mesa Rim or Kit Fox Outfitters a full refund will be issued
